What is Responsible AI?#

There is no single definition of “Responsible AI,” but the general idea is that AI should be designed and used in ways that are ethically sound and that protect the safety, security, and privacy of individuals and groups.

Some of the specific goals of responsible AI include developing AI systems that are explainable and transparent, preventing AI from being used for harm or discrimination, and ensuring that AI benefits all people regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic status.

Rules of thumb for Responsible AI#

  1. Question the data that you are using to train your AI models. Make sure that the data is representative of the real world and that it is not biased in any way. Follow our guide on how to build a good dataset.

  2. Make sure that you can explain the decisions that your AI models are making.

  3. Be transparent about the AI technologies that you are using and how they are being used.

  4. Respect the privacy of individuals and always adhere to data protection laws.

  5. Avoid creating AI systems that could be used to cause harm or that could be used to exploit people in some way.

  6. Use AI technologies in a way that is ethically responsible and that takes into consideration the potential impacts of AI on society.

  7. Regularly review your AI systems to ensure that they are operating as intended and that they are not having any negative impacts.
